Adding and Subtracting Fractions with Different Denominators

1. Addition

To add fractions with different denominators:

Step 1: Find the Lowest Common Denominator (LCD) – The smallest number that both denominators can divide into.
Step 2: Convert each fraction to have the same denominator. Adjust the numerators accordingly.
Step 3: Add the numerators.
Step 4: Simplify the answer if needed.

2. Subtraction

To subtract fractions with different denominators:

Step 1: Find the Lowest Common Denominator (LCD).
Step 2: Convert each fraction to have the same denominator.
